Understanding Meditation-Based Compassion Cultivation Practice

Today, alongside mindfulness, meditation-based compassion practice is emerging as a major focus in contemplative science related initiatives. Standardized protocols, such as Stanford CCT (Compassion Cultivation Training) and CBCT (Cognitive-Based Compassion Training), are being offered extensively as well as studied. Compassion-based therapeutic applications, such as CFT (Compassion Focused Therapy), also draw on some form of meditation-based compassion training. This talk will explore the psychology and the conceptual framework that underlie these meditation-based compassion practices so that professionals in health, education, and wellbeing, can develop a deeper understanding of the nature, scope, and targets of these practices.
