Psychometrist & Psychotherapist

Chau Du, M.Sc., RP is a psychometrist and a registered psychotherapist in the Bariatric Surgery Program at the University Health Network (UHN) where she conducts assessments and research with patients with obesity, eating, mood and anxiety disorders. She has been practicing mindfulness meditation since 2003 under the traditions of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh and is the founder of the Canadian Mindfulness Centre (CMC). Chau has advanced training in mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) with Dr. Zindel Segal, mindfulness-based eating and awareness training (MB-EAT) with Dr. Jean Kristeller, mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) which she incorporates in her training as a psychotherapist and mindfulness facilitator.

Chau specializes in providing treatment and conducting research in mood/anxiety disorders, eating disorders, bariatric surgery, bereavement/grief counselling, and palliative/cancer care. Her master’s thesis examined the Change Processes in Bereavement Counselling for Adult Children Who Lost a Parent to Cancer. She is currently completing a doctorate in clinical psychology and sustains a small private practice at CMC. In her spare time, Chau enjoys practicing meditation, yoga, globetrotting, reading, listening to music, spending time with family and friends and taking mindful walks with her Siberian husky.
