Chau Du, M.Sc., is a psychometrist in the Bariatric Surgery Program at the University Health Network (UHN) where she conducts assessments and research with patients with obesity, eating, mood and anxiety disorders. She has been practicing mindfulness meditation since 2003 under the traditions of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, and is the founder of the Canadian Mindfulness Centre (CMC). Chau has received advanced training in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) with Dr. Zindel Segal (2009), Mindfulness-Based Eating and Awareness Training (MB-EAT) with Dr. Jean Kristeller (2014), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) at the Center for Mindfulness Studies at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (2011), and the Applied Mindfulness Meditation Certificate Program at the Factor-Inwentash School of Social Work (2011). Prior to her role at UHN, Chau provided treatment and conducted research in mood/anxiety disorders, mindfulness-based cognitive behaviour therapy, bereavement/grief counselling, and palliative/cancer care. She is currently undergoing a research doctorate in clinical psychology and sustains a small private practice at CMC. In her spare time, Chau practices yoga and goes on mindful walks with her Siberian husky.
