Cooper Penner
Researcher, Brown University

Cooper Penner is a current student at Brown University. He has worked closely with the late Catherine Kerr  attempting to expand existing clinical definitions of medically unexplained syndromes through complex systems analysis. He has been awarded both a SEW and UTRA research award by Brown University for his work on an ongoing clinical trial and presented findings at the Society for Integrative Oncology and International Symposium for Contemplative Studies. Currently his work is focused primarily on how energy practices such as Qi gong can affect inflammatory, flowmetry, and cortical measures, as well as how these quantitative variables could be contextualized by subjective reports of experience towards the end of a clinically viable “embodied neurophenomological viewpoint.” He is a daily meditator and excited to learn about new developments in the field and to be in the great white north for the first time!
