Erin McCarthy, PhD, is Chair and Professor of Philosophy and also teaches in the Asian Studies Program at St. Lawrence University (Canton, NY). She is author of the book “Ethics Embodied: Rethinking Selfhood through Continental, Japanese and Feminist Philosophies” (Lexington, 2010). In addition to her scholarly work in comparative feminist philosophy and contemplative education, she is also a trained teacher of Mindfulness for Symptom Management and Mindful Self-Compassion, modalities which she brings to her teaching, the campus community as a whole and her home city of Ottawa, including the federal government. Erin is a member of the Academy for Mindfulness and Contemplative Studies at the University of Ottawa and is Co-Chair of the 2018 International Symposium for Contemplative Studies.
