Our program follows the treatment protocol of the Oxford Mindfulness Center at the University of Oxford. Psychologist Vitor Friary was trained in this mindfulness program extensively during his professional master’s degree in England, and researched the effectiveness of this program by receiving all the supervision necessary for competent MBCT practice.
Prof. Friary is certified by the University of California in MBCT and has been approved by all Mindfulness-based Teaching Assessment Criteria (MBI-TAC) criteria by international trainers. Prof. Friary, founder of the Center for Mindfulness in Brazil has international recognition, including by the Center for Mindfulness at Harvard Medical School , having been invited by the institution as a lecturer and professor. The Mindfulness Center in Brazil is also recognized by partners in California, Canada and England, including the University of California.
Before moving to Brazil and founding the Mindfulness Center, Prof. Friary was a therapist at North London Priory Hospital where he co-facilitated therapeutic groups of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), receiving direct clinical supervision from Dr. Mark Serfaty and Dr. David Veale and Psychotherapist Pippa O’Connor.
